Actually I had started drawing this on the 4th of September, when I learned that Steve Irwin (aka the Crocodile Hunter) died. I ended up misplacing the sketchbook (I've got so many little ones at present, you see) and found it just a few minutes ago. So I finished the sketch, a little late to be a tribute now. Little Cale is the nature-lover among my characters... this is him and Oghenetega, the lion. Tega's no longer a living character in the story at present, though.

Although I used no reference for Tega (bad habit, I know ^^;) the pose turns out to be just a little bit similar to the Dying Lion of Lucerne.

Even without reference, the Tega still looking espectacullar (bad english!!!) it reminds me the lion king hehe... and Cale looks soooo cute!

Using reference is understandable cuz drawing animal isn't easy. This is so cute. It seems like something that would be in a children's story book. :love: :D

ohhhh, this is a great pic, it's normal that you don't use reference (for animals or anything) i don't like too, but i don't use to get this results xDD hehehehe, i did the fine arts degree and my professors tell me that that was not a good way to work, but for me was so boring getting good reference for expressing exactly what i wont, but well, i ended the degree with enoug good marks, and i know that it's really right now that i'm learning good manners xDD i'm a little more mature, and those things, hehehehe, getting reference is pretty good but not indispensable, anyway, this is a great pic, and you have "some reference" that are all the lions you have seen before ;)
uhms this pic remember me when i was a child, i have a huge dog and my little bro use to sleep the siesta over him hehehehehe n____n
